Why do we need to replace the filter element?

Many filtration systems use carbon, charcoal, or composite filtration media to help reduce impurities. These systems typically reduce pollutants in one of these two ways.

First, some pollutants are filtered mechanically, meaning they are large enough to be trapped in the pores of the filter element, and others stick to the surface of the filter medium. Eventually, the surface of the filter media becomes so full that it can no longer absorb any contaminants, or in the case of mechanical filtration, the pores of the filter element become so clogged with impurities that water cannot pass through the filter effectively.

The latter filtering effect is easy to observe because the flow rate of the water produced by the system slows significantly, but it is not easy to tell when the filter media surface is full and needs to be replaced.

How often does the filter element need to be replaced?

Suggestions for filter replacement cycle vary from product to product. Domestic water treatment systems generally have a defined "service/life cycle".

The service cycle may be specific to how many gallons of water a unit can handle, or the estimated number of months a filter element will last in most homes. To ensure that the filter element can continuously reduce pollutants, please replace it as recommended by the manufacturer.

Select the correct replacement filter element

Filter elements are not always universal. Uncertified elements may appear to be of the same size and even fit inside the filter shell of a water treatment system, and even the smallest size difference may cause water to bypass the element rather than pass through it.

In addition, the quality of filter elements that are not certified may differ from the quality of the replacement product recommended by the manufacturer. This may result in the water not being filtered efficiently, or impurities may precipitate into the water from materials that have not been certified for contact with drinking water.
